Athlete Consent & Data Processing

General information about consent and data handling in sport psychology support.

1. Informed participation

Professional sport-psychology support should begin with an understandable explanation of purpose, scope, confidentiality, limits and how information may be used.

2. Minors

Where an athlete is a minor, parent or guardian involvement may be required. Athlete assent, age-appropriate communication and safeguarding should also be considered.

3. Information sharing

Information should not automatically be shared with coaches, parents, teams or organisations. Sharing should follow consent, safety needs, professional judgement, service agreements and applicable requirements.

4. Limits of confidentiality

Confidentiality may be limited by serious safety, safeguarding or legal obligations.

5. Public website

Do not use public website tools or initial enquiry messages to provide unnecessary sensitive information.

This public page is intended to describe website and professional-scope practices in plain language. Specific professional services may require separate consent or service documentation.
